Mr. Charles Aston Tocknell, 85 of Frederick and formerly of Silver Spring, died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at his residence. He was the husband of Lorina Elzenia (Walsh) Tocknell who he married on July 28, 1945.
Born on December 10, 1921 in Garden City, NY, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Mary Ellen (Phillips) Tocknell. Mr. Tocknell served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 where he received injuries at the Battle of Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Tocknell retired from the United States Justice Department in 1977.
He enjoyed gardening, jewelry making, bird watching, antiques and traveling to visit his family.
Besides his wife survivors include four children; Wayne Tocknell and wife Judy of Clearwater, FL, David Tocknell and wife Janet of Wheaton, MD, Rev. Philip Tocknell and wife Debbie of Millersville, MD, and Charles Seraydian and wife Mary Ann of Taneytown, MD; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Earl P. Tocknell of New Jersey; a sister Ellen Evans of Philadelphia, PA; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tocknell was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Tocknell and two brothers and two sisters.

Services: The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD at which time funeral services will be conducted with Rev. Beverly Stang officiating. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery.
