Charles Edward Vance

Charles "Buck" Vance, 97, of Mount Airy, passed from this life on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Bethania Home Care, Westminster.  He was the husband of 63 years to the late Virginia (Hash) Vance.  Born on December 23, 1924, in Petersburg, WV, he was the son of Wilbur and Ruby Vance.

Mr. Vance was a decorated World War II Army Veteran, serving in Okinawa and Korea.  Charles held a lifetime membership at the American Legion, Gold Star Post #191, Mt. Airy.  He was self-employed and was the owner/operator of Vance Construction.

As a founding member of Fredericktowne Baptist Church in Walkersville, Charles was passionate about imparting his faith to future generations.  He enjoyed singing, spending time with his family and children.

He is survived by his 2 daughters: Lori L. Belke and husband Bill and Charlene V. Boone; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren as well as 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Boulevard, Mt. Airy.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Sites Chapel, 2424 Elkhorn Road, Dorcas, WV 26847.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Ketterman Family Cemetery, Dorcas, WV.
