Charles Leon Tusing, 77, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Meritus Medical Center.
Born on May 14, 1935, in Trego, Maryland, he was the son of the late Anthony W. and Hyliene B.V. (Hardey) Tusing.
Charles was a 1954 graduate from Boonsboro High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War.
Charles worked as a carpenter and was the owner of several real estate properties around Hagerstown.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Boonsboro and had formerly been a member of the Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post #211 in Funkstown.
One of Charles' favorite past times was eating at his favorite restaurants: the J&M Grill on South Potomac Street, the Waffle House on Sharpsburg Pike, and the old Richardson's Restaurant on Dual Highway.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen L. (Russell) Tusing; his son, Randy Tusing of Lusby, Maryland; two daughters, Lisa Hinson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Deanna Karn of Williamsport, Maryland; one stepdaughter, Sheila Suders of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; his sister, Barbara E. Forsythe of Hagerstown; and his brother Robert L. Tusing of North Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces and one great nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William A. Tusing.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt and Pastor Jeffrey Anthony will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the funeral home.
