Mr. Charles Sappington, 88, of Frederick, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Catherine C. ( Weedon ) Sappington.
Born on August 5, 1918 in Frederick, he was the son of the late David Sappington and Marguerite ( Hill ) Sappington Freeland.
Mr. Sappington was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church , a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop McNamara Council 1622. He retired from Ft. Detrick after thirty years of service, where he served in the Officers Club as a waiter and bartender.
Surviving beside his wife are seven grandchildren, Cathy Jones and husband Ray Jones,Joan Weedon, Veta Weedon, Anna Rideout, Wendy Whiten, Kim Weedon, Douglas Weedon, thirteen great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, one brother, David Sappington , a sister Constance Hill, both of Frederick.
He was preceded in death by his devoted son William Weedon, three sisters, Leah Frances Sappington Myers, Maxine Helen Bowins and Agnes Marie Freeland and sister-in-law Hester Sappington.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike,
Frederick, on Sunday, February 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Services:
A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 116 E. Second St. Frederick. Interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
