Charles E. Reeder, Sr., 87, of Rohrersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
Born on September 10, 1925, in Rohrersville, he was the son of the late Emons and Gertrude (Stull) Reeder. His wife of 41 years, Helen L. (O'Neal) Reeder, preceded him in death in 2007.
Charles was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II.
He retired from Beachley Furniture Company in 1987.
Charles was a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro and had formerly been a member of the Amvets Post 10 in Hagerstown.
He is survived by two daughters, Roxie L. Kelbaugh of Williamsport and Sue A. Reeder of Rohrersville; three sons, Charles E. Reeder, Jr. of Boonsboro, Michael A. Reeder of Williamsport, and Henry A. Reeder of Boonsboro; one brother, LeRoy Reeder of Boonsboro; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend and faithful companion Jumbo.
Charles was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Gardner; one brother, Harry Reeder; and one great-grandson.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery at Locust Grove in Rohrersville, with military honors rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the funeral home.
