Charles Leroy Phebus, Jr.

Mr. Charles “Chuckie” Leroy Phebus, Jr., 70, of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away, peacefully, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at North Hampton Nursing Home in Frederick.

Born January 17, 1954 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Charles Leroy Phebus and Frances Lee Phebus of Woodbine, MD. 

He graduated from Glenelg High School and served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed watching westerns, spending time outside, and enjoying time with family. 

He is survived by his two sisters, Linda L. Gue of Mt. Airy and Terry Darlene Horman of Thurmont. He was an uncle to Michael Gue, Jr. and Cindy, Michelle Bowen and husband, Tom, Heather Heier and husband, Chris, Katie Harrell and husband, Daniel, and Randy Horman, Jr. and wife, Becky. He is also survived by numerous cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy E. Phebus and Annie V. Phebus of Woodbine, grandmother, Carrie Litchfield of Riva, MD, and brothers-in-law, Michael E Gue, Sr. of Mt. Airy and Randy W. Horman of Thurmont. 

A celebration of Charle's life will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Boulevard in Mt. Airy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday.

Final resting place ceremonies, with military honors, will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Mt. Airy.
