Charles Hoover

d. June 30, 2014

Charles Kenneth Hoover age 77 of Emmitsburg, Maryland took his spiritual journey home on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 9:28 a.m. at John’s Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was married for 35 years and is survived by his wife Carolyn, the love of his life; four daughters, Lisa Ford, Tammy Babkoff, Debbie Newcomer, and Gwen Hinton, one son Kenny Hoover; and a host of adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren who will dearly miss his “powerful sugar”. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marsha Alexander; his brothers Albert Lewis, Thomas, and John Hoover; and is survived by a brother Jerry Hoover and a sister Arlene Brown.
Kenneth entered this world on August 7, 1936 in Calvert City, Kentucky and was the son of the late Floyd R. and Sadie “Sparks” Hoover. Having graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1954 he then trained formally for a life time of service at Freed-Hardeman University. He began his ministry as a preacher for the Church of Christ at the age of 14. His service to his Lord Jesus Christ spanned six decades. Kenneth served with zealous commitment and an effective preaching ministry in Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, and Arizona; however his message of Good News transcended these United States and many places around the world. His passion and love for his Lord was the driving force of his life. His greatest desire was to seek and save the lost and bring glory and honor to God. He touched literally thousands of lives for their good and God’s glory. He was known for his indiscriminate love and compassion for everyone. He ministered to the sick, helped the hurting, mended broken lives, comforted the bereaved, and was a source of enthusiastic encouragement. His bond with youth enabled him to have a legacy that will honor his influence for generations. Kenneth lived and died believing and teaching that “It’s The Greatest Thing In The World To Be A Christian”.
There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main St., Thurmont, Maryland. A memorial service will be held at the Catoctin Church of Christ at a later date. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, July 5, 2014 in Benton, Kentucky with interment at Coldwater Church of Christ cemetery.
