Charles Herbert, Sr.

Charles Edward "Eddie" Herbert, Sr., 83 of Smithsburg, MD, died peacefully March 16, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Born on October 1, 1934 in Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of the late Charles and Kathlyne Walker Herbert.
Charles is survived by his three children, Charles Herbert, Jr. and wife Donetta of Thurmont, MD, Rhonda Jo Herbert of Salisbury, MD, and Daniel Herbert, Sr. and wife Michelle of Poolesville, MD; 8 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kelsey Herbert, Timothy and Joseph Harris, Alyssa Robbin, Daniel, and Makayla Herbert; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was married to Norma Earp Brooks for 34 years and remained lifelong friends after their divorce.
He is predeceased in death by a sister Bonnie Kay Scott in 1978 and grandson Brandon Edward Herbert in 2012.
Mr. Herbert retired from Metro Transit Authority after nearly 40 years of service. He was also a Marine veteran serving in the Korean conflict.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be at the Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville, VA. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
