Charles J. Heims, 80, died suddenly of cancer at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Born June 3, 1936 in Creagerstown, Md to the late Charles and Agnes (Devilbiss) Heims. Beloved husband of Jean Heims; father of Phyllis (Randy) Smith, Steve Heims, Tony (Wynne) Heims, Bonnie (Russell) Long, and Mike Heims; brother of Richard Heims and Rachel See; son-in-law of Beulah Zentz, also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Charlie worked at Thurmont Shoe Company for 29 years, Shenandoah Plastics, and Barnes Cabinet Shop for 18 years before retiring. Charles loved to wear hats, he had a hat for any and every occasion. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and taking care of his animals.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main St, Thurmont on Wednesday December 21 from 3 -7 pm and where service will be held on Thursday December 22, 2016 at 11:00 am. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St John's Lutheran Church, 8619 Blacks Mill Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.
