Charles Gibson, Sr.

Mr. Charles F. “Hoot” Gibson Sr., 90, of Mt.Airy died on Tuesday January 18, 2011 at FrederickMemorialHospital. He was the husband of Marjorie K. Gibson.

Born on December 7, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Francis and Mary E. Gibson.
He served during WWII in the U. S. Navy. He was a founding member of LaytonsvilleBaptistChurch. He enjoyed flying as a private pilot and had logged in over 1500 hours. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing and golfing. He was the former chaplain of the Mt. Airy VFW.
Also surviving are four children; Doug Gibson and wife Debbie of Olney, Chuck Gibson of Pennsylvania, Connie Adams and husband Woody of Mt. Airy and Kathy Mongold and husband Bob of Edgewater. Grandchildren, Doug Jr., Elaine, Buster, Rob and Libby. Great grandchildren; Colin, Casey, Aaron, Gracie, Mary and Daniel. Brothers, George, Claude, Al, and Frank Gibson. Sister, Edie Rossi.
Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Monday January 24, at the Stauffer Funeral Homes P. A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. Mt. Airy where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday January 25, 2011. Interment will follow in MarylandVeteransCemetery, Crownsville.
