Mr. Charles A. "Jimmy" Dykes Jr., 67, of Baltimore, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at his home. Born March 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles A. Dykes Sr. and Lucille Dykes-Gilbert of Frederick.
Jimmy was a 1962 graduate of Middletown High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served his country for 13 years.
Jimmy is survived by his sister, Beverly King and husband Frank of Hagerstown; two daughters, Amber Dykes of Atlanta, Ga., and Shavon Ford of Baltimore; one son, Christopher of Baltimore; three grandchildren; former wife, Petra Gilbert; and special friend, Nina Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Dykes, Irene Henderson and Thearl Dykes.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. Kaye Coates will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
