Charles Butts, Sr.

Charles Irving Butts, Sr., 64, of Hagerstown, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

Born in Frederick, Maryland on March 3, 1951, he was the son of the late Robert E Butts, Sr. and Edna A. (Frye) Butts.

He attended Boonsboro High School.

Charles was retired from Frederick Iron and Steel Company, having also worked at Wolf Brothers Supply, Inc.

He was a member of the Valley Assembly of God Church in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Charles will be fondly remembered for his kindness, his tender heart, his witty nature, and his ability to be funny and full of life.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Kay (Clipp) Butts, one daughter, Amy Strine and husband Earl of Brunswick, Maryland; one son, Charles Irving Butts, Jr. of Hagerstown, Maryland; two special granddaughters, Brittany Nicole Strine and Sophie Ruth Butts; one sister, Barbara Martz and husband Gerald of Boonsboro, Maryland; two brothers, Gary Butts, Sr., and wife Becky of Hagerstown, and Danny Butts and fiancé Cathy of Dickerson, Maryland; and his caring mother-in-law, Phyllis Baker.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by one sister, Shirley Racey; and four brothers, Waymeth Butts, Ronnie Butts, Sr., Earl Butts, Sr., and Robert E. Butts, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Robert C. Jones will be officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015, at the funeral home.
