Charles Brantner

Mr. Charles Owen Brantner, Sr.,74 of Thurmont, MD., passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Joan M. Webb Brantner.

Born August 27, 1935 in Zion, MD, he was the son of the late Ira and Anna Young Brantner.

Mr. Brantner was a member of the Thurmont United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He service his Country in the U.S. Army, 11 th Airborne Divison , then retired from the Government in 1979. He then worked at Ft. Detrick in telephone communications retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Masonic Acacia Lodge and the American Legion Post #168.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles Owen Brantner, Jr and wife Sylvia of Rocky Ridge and Fred William Brantner and wife Hope of Middletown, two granddaughters Lorraine Brantner and Grace Brantner both of Middletown, four grandsons Jason Brantner and wife Kerri of Emmitsburg, Jared Brantner and fiancé Molly of Cascade, Sterling Winzer Brantner and Warren John Brantner both of Middletown, two great grandchildren Karleigh Elizabeth Brantner and Weston Owen Brantner, a brother Ira Jake Brantner of Wilmington, DE and a sister Hazel Medley of Cambridge, MD. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. from the Thurmont United Methodist Church, 13880 Long Road, Thurmont, MD with Rev. Gary Morgan officiating.

Friends  may visit with the family at the church from 10:30 a.m, until service time.

Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens
