Charlene Rivlin

Charlene Ziegler Rivlin, 69, of Ijamsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at her home.  Born May 8, 1949, in Elmira, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ritchie Ziegler and Bette Gillette Ziegler.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ronald Rivlin.

Charlene was a dedicated elementary school teacher and taught for 25 years in the Montgomery County Public School system.  She loved traveling, photography, attending Capitals, Nationals, NY Giants games and Broadway musicals, and being with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children and grandchildren, Kristine Rivlin of Los Angeles, California and her husband Alexandre Smith and their children River and Finn, and Jason Rivlin of Fortson, Georgia and his wife Cheryl Rivlin and their children Owen and Abigail; sister Christa Ziegler David of Jacksonville and her husband Bob David, an aunt, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many caring cousins.

Charlene lived a life she loved, and was known in the community for her kindness and interest in everyone she came into contact with.   She loved her family and friends, and always went above and beyond for those she cared for.  A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702, followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Charlene’s name be made to Carroll Hospice at carrollhospice.org.
