On the morning of August 5, Charlene Petrarco (Peters) Miller went from great suffering into our Lord’s loving arms to suffer no more. Anyone who knew “Char”, “Mum”, or “Mimi” knew how loving, fun and beautiful she always was. She was born in Gallitzin, PA, on October 9, 1940. She was the loving wife of 28 years of Curtis Miller until the time of his death in 2011. She was one of five children born to Albert and Hazel Petrarco who both preceded her to their forever home. Also preceding her was her older sister Twila, her older brother Robert, who served our country for over 20 years, and most recently, her precious niece Lynne who bravely fought a battle with cancer, before she was called home.
She is survived by one daughter, Kelly Slaughter and husband Robert, three grandchildren; Lauren Tyler, Lindsey Ballenger and Corey Ballenger. Two great grandsons; Bryson Tyler and Brayden Tyler, two loving sisters Autumn Swing and Mary Dennis. Three nieces; Shelley Kollesides, Lori Seaton, and Lisa Muse. Two nephews; Shane Swing and Shawn Swing. In addition, many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
She made a lot of friends during her illness. One in particular, a very special caretaker, Eli. She considered her dignity up until the very end. Eli loved Char beyond what a caretaker has to do. She went out of her way, always, because she loved her and Char loved her just the same.
Family will receive friends at Stauffer’s Funeral Home on East Main Street in Thurmont from 10:00am to 12:00am on Tuesday, August 12. A Catholic message with be given by Reverend Michael Seger beginning at 12:00. Her funeral will be a celebration of her life, and not so much mourning her death, as was her wish.
