Mrs. Charlene "Dolly" Gunneaux, 57, of Frederick, passed away Friday morning October 19, 2012 in her home after a battle with cancer.
Born October 2, 1955 near Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Mary F. Morgan and the late Elmer Delphey, Jr.
Known to most people as Dolly, she grew up in the Frederick area and attended Governor Thomas Johnson High School. Dolly was an active member of the Maryland Chapter of the Living Legacy Foundation and an advocate for Donate Life as she was a 2x lung transplant recipient.
Dolly also was a Mustang lover and enjoyed driving her poppy red 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback- nicknamed "BrickHouse" around town, in local parades, and to cruise-ins. She was an active member of the Golden Gears Car Club.
Dolly was a giving and compassionate woman making friends wherever she went. She had a passion for helping others and participated yearly in a variety of fundraisers to assist children and families, and medical advancements for such programs as Toys 4 Tots, the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice and Donate Life.
Dolly was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. Her greatest love was her family and they were the center of her entire life. Dolly leaves behind a variety of family members to mourn her passing, carry on her memory and celebrate her loving spirit. She is survived by her adoring husband, Ed Gunneaux, II, of Frederick; her daughters, Crystal Harrison, and spouse, Derek, of Martinsburg, WV; Diana McCutcheon of Hedgesville, WV; son-in-law, Matthew McCutcheon of Frederick; her grandchildren, Damien Harrison, Samantha Harrison, Layla McCutcheon, Joy Gunneaux, Eddie Gunneaux, IV, and Gracie Gunneaux; sister, Joyce Shaff; brothers, Richard Delphey, Nick Delphey, and Michael Delphey; sister and brother-in-law, Carmen and Bill Burdette; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Dolly also is survived by an extended/adoptive family of her late husband, John "Frankie" Harrison; his parents Edwina and Francis "Johnnie" Harrison of Union Bridge; and siblings, Christie Harrison, Eddie Harrison, Gregory Harrison, Jamie Harrison, and Joseph Harrison.
Dolly will be dearly missed and forever loved. She will live on forever in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Dolly's life will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim May.
