Cecily Wilkinson

Cecily Maitland Wilkinson passed peacefully early on the morning of March 28, 2016 in Frederick, Md. She was born on May 20th, 1922 in Detroit and came to the Washington area during World War II after graduating from Ohio Wesleyan. She pitched in during the war, working on the "wench bench" at the Applied Physics Lab in Silver Spring. She met William B. Wilkinson Jr., her beloved "Billy" at a dance while he was still wearing his Marine uniform. They were married on Aug. 15th, 1947 in Detroit and settled in Silver Spring, Md. Cecily was a dedicated, inspired gardener, as was her mother, and was known as the “Flower Lady" at her nursing home. She loved her adopted state of Maryland and spending time on the Chesapeake Bay.
She was preceded in death by William in 2004, and her parents, Ralph and Margaret Jones, and her two brothers, Robert and David Jones. She leaves behind her two children, Eve Taglang of Frederick, Jeffrey of Sarasota, daughter-in-law Anne Maxfield Wilkinson and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Graham Taglang of Los Angeles.
