Ms. Catherine (Susie) Marie Borum, 73, of Frederick, MD, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.
Born on April 30, 1940 in Frederick, MD and was the daughter of the late Darby and Bessie Luvenia (Bowens) Brown.
Susie worked many years at Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, MD. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Frederick, MD and continued her education at Frederick Community College. Susie had a passion for sewing, cooking and ceramics. She entered a cooking contest and won with her special Pineapple Cake. Susie was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a past member of the Souls on Fire Choir. She loved life, her family and friends.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Viola Brown of Damascus and Hilda Elizabeth Johnson of Frederick and two brothers, James Edward Brown of Catonsville, MD and Merle Lee Brown of Los Angeles, CA.
She is preceded in death by Norine Hurd, Robert Hurd, Ernest Hurd, Darby Brown, Jr., Adeline Brown, and David Brown.
Susie was a foster mother to Delores Mahone Mosby, Willie Mahone, Herbert Mahone, Loureatha Mahone Gibson and Daniel Mahone. She was a devoted aunt and confidant to several nieces and nephews. Susie also leave to cherish two dear aunts, Helen Carr of Baltimore and MayBelle Jones of York, PA.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 10:30a - 11:30a and funeral services will begin at 11:30a. Reverend Sherman Mason, Jr. will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
