Catherine Weir

Mrs. Catherine M. Weir, 84, of Frederick, MD passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the Somerford House of Frederick. She was the beloved wife of the late Major Robert Paul Weir USAF retired.

Born September 22, 1927, in Boston, MA she was the daughter of the late John Francis and Mary Wrigley Caulfield.

After graduating from Roslindale High School in 1945, she worked briefly for the telephone company before marrying Robert Paul Weir on October 15, 1949. At this time she began her career as an Air Force wife. Her husband’s career allowed her to travel to various regions of the United States including Florida, Massachusetts, California, Texas and Maryland, but her favorite place was Santa Barbara, California.

Catherine was a dedicated and devoted mother to her family of six children. Among her favorite activities were walking on the beach, exercising and being in the company of the family dogs she loved so much. She also enjoyed dancing, and staying in touch with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her six children: Paul Weir and wife Debbie of Frederick, Carol Warsaw and husband Alan of Frederick, Deborah Weir of Germantown, Kathryn Robertson of Austin, TX, Robert Weir, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of El Paso, TX and John Weir and wife Susan of Amissville, VA; 13 grandchildren and brother John Caulfield, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Hyde Park, MA.

She is predeceased by her brother James Caulfield.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14 ^th , 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Ft. Detrick Chapel, Rosemont Ave. entrance. Rev. Keith Boisvert will officiate.

A burial at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
