Catherine Peters
October 23, 1921 — November 20, 2010
Catherine "Pat" Peters passed peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, October 23, 1921, to the late Frances and Robert Walsh. Nursing, motherhood and homemaking were her specialties.
She received her RN certification and afterward worked in a children’s orthopedic hospital until her marriage in 1943.
She lived in NJ, VA, CA, TX, and OK as an Army wife before settling in Rockville, Maryland in 1957. There, she was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and raised 5 children, at times on her own, as her husband served three tours overseas. She instilled faith, love and strong character in her children.
Her grilled chuck steak, home made potato salad and corn on the cob summer Sunday dinners have never been matched.
She was the beloved wife of the late Henry T. Peters, Maj, USA, RET, and devoted mother of Susan E. FitzGerald and husband Donald, Robert D. Peters, LTC, USAR, RET and wife Virginia, the late Michael J. Peters, Patricia Ann Scheele and late husband William, and Keith D. Peters and wife Juliea. She was cherished by her grandchildren – Jamie Ritter, the late Scott Ritter, Laila Naderi, David Peters, Julie Peters, Kristen Van Vranken, Marianne Ritter, Kenny, William, Thomas, Eric and Adam March; Skip, Donny, Dennis, Timmy, Richard (deceased) FitzGerald, Karen Warren, and Denise Edwards; Vicki Pavay and David Lauer - in addition to numerous great-grandchildren. She was loved by her late sister, Delores Martin and survived by her faithful sister-in-law Wilma Jones. Jim Ritter, Nasser Naderi, Sharon Peters Benson, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends were blessed in knowing Pat.
A mass will be celebrated at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Walkersville, MD, Saturday November 27, 2010, at 11:00 in the morning.
The family will receive those attending the mass at 10:00.
Immediately following the mass, the interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD.
