Catherine Conaway

Mrs. Catherine Anna Conaway, 88, of Walkersville, died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Edward Conaway, who predeceased her on June 26, 1967.

Born May 24, 1924 on her family farm in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Sigler Lakin.

Mrs. Conaway worked as an animal caretaker at the former Whitaker Bio Products in Walkersville, now known as Lonza. She was a long time member of Glade United Church of Christ in Walkersville. She enjoyed gardening until her health prevented her from doing so.

She was loved by many people and had a dear, loving heart. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Stiles and her husband, James Stiles, Jr. , of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Kathy Conaway of Walkersville; four grandchildren, Tammy Vincent, William Vincent, Angela Vincent, and Cheryl Phipps; five great-grandchildren, Frederick Hofmeister, III, Luke Campbell, Oleander Kosy, Eric Phipps, and Casey Phipps; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, and one nephew.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 2, from St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville, with Msgr. Richard Murphy as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Glade Cemetery.
