Catherine Elizabeth Atkins

Catherine Elizabeth Duppins Atkins was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 22, 1933, and passed peacefully on April 7, 2024. 

Born to Clarence C. Duppins and Margaret J. Saunders Duppins she was sister to Marie H. Shacklett Cornish, Luvenia A. Duppins and Emmanual S. Duppins. She was educated in the Frederick County Public Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1951. 

She made nursing her career and trained in nursing homes in Baltimore where she lived until marriage. Then she moved back to Frederick County to raise her children. After they were in school she resumed her nursing career as a nursing assistant, graduating from the Frederick County School of Nursing, working at Citizens nursing home earning Nursing Assistant of the Year in 1994 and then retiring after 34 years.

She gave her life to Jesus many years ago and lived a quiet, peaceful life with the The Lord.

She is survived by 2 sons, Charlie Atkins (deceased) and Gary Atkins, one daughter, Natalie Jackson (deceased); 3 grandchildren, Takisha Atkins, Turquoise Jackson and Tyree Atkins. She is also survived by a dear close friend Mary Ann Fagle; 2 nieces, Denise Wali and Peggy Shacklett of Baltimore, Maryland.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, April 15, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD, where a celebration of Catherine's life will begin at 11:00 AM. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in  Frederick, MD.
