Mr. Casper Lee McIlwee, Jr., 76, of Sharpsburg, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Jeanette McIlwee for 21 years. They were together for 31 years.
Born March 2, 1941 in Cabin John, Maryland, he was the son of the late Elsie Basinger and Casper Lee McIlwee, Sr.
He was an avid Redskins fan, loved fishing and was fond of singing and good times. Times spent with his family and his pup, Chloe, were most precious to him.
A longtime sheet metal worker, Casper retired from Sheet Metal Local #100.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Keith McIlwee of Sharpsburg; Scott McIlwee and wife, Theresa, of Boonsboro; and Brian McIlwee of Montgomery County; a step-son, Robbie Atchinson; six grandchildren, Mason, Kurt, Alan, Sara, and Kyle McIlwee, and Bobby Maddox; two sisters, Terry Parks and Vickie Mouland; a brother-in-law, Roger Atchinson and wife, Linda; and daughter-in-law, Agnes McIlwee.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Garrett McIlwee; daughter-in-law, Kristine Riley; and his step-father, Tommy Basinger.
A celebration of life gathering will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the family home in Sharpsburg. A casual gathering, the family asks that in honor of his love for the Redskins to please wear burgundy and gold.
