Carroll Holmes Warfield, born August 31, 1924, to Helen Viola Martin and Charles Carroll (Pete) Warfield of Libertytown, passed away October 4, 2012 at Tranquility of Fredericktowne, where he resided for the past 17 months. He is predeceased by partner Elizabeth Boyd of Springfield and Fort Ashby, WV where they resided together for more than 30 years.
Carroll worked in farming prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he held the rank of Sergeant. He was employed by the Kelly Pie Company, Routzhans, Danac of Gaithersburg and the WV School for the Deaf & Blind. He was well known for his bountiful garden, baking and candy making skills, love of the river, and his friendly and spirited personality.
He is survived by his children Rebecca A. Baer, Richard A. Warfield and wife Deborah, Barbara J. Scotto and husband Robert and his former wife Cora G. Knight of Frederick; grandchildren Matthew Warfield of Austin, TX, Danielle Warfield Wittenberg, Allison Scotto Eyler (Brett), Kristen Scotto Miss (Dale); great grandchildren Jesse and Tara Eyler, Hunter Miss, Abigail Wittenberg and Jane Childs, all of Frederick; brothers Roland (Dorothy) and Martin (Audrey); sister Frances (Prunell) and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 10-11 AM where a service will begin at 11 AM. Pastor Tom Fralin will officiate.
Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.
