Carroll Sayler

Mr. Carroll Edward Sayler, 84 of Frederick died on Saturday, February 21, 2015, in Frederick.

Born of March 31, 1930 in Ladiesburg, he was the son of the late Willard Edward and Esther Rebecca Martz Sayler. Carroll was a 1947 graduate of Walkersville High School; in his younger years he   worked on several farms but on August 5, 1955 he went to work for M.J. Grove Lime Co. which became Flintkote Co. and later Genstar in Frederick until his retirement  in 1993. He joined the United Stoneworkers of America in 1955 holding several offices including president in 1962. Carroll joined the I.O.O. F. in 1989, serving as treasurer, Noble Grand, Lodge Deputy, financial secretary and Deputy Grand Master of Zone 3 from 1995 - 2010.

Surviving are 3 children: Carol Elaine Flanary of Ohio, LeRoy Edward Sayler of Federalsburg and Terry Sayler Clark of Frederick; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Margaret Powers of Walkersville and Ruth Danner and husband Edward of Frederick; as well as a special friend, Rosey Swain of Thurmont. Mr. Sayler was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Catherine Fisher and a great grandson, Bradden Aspen Stavley.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM onThursday, February 26, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 27, interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Woodsboro.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may me made to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
