Mr. Carriel D. “Carl” Knight, 75, of Middletown, MD, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born May 11, 1940 in Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles Walter and Maude Reva Haney Knight.

He was employed as an electronic technician by the Montgomery County School Board for 30 years, retiring in 1992.

In the 1960’s, Carl, his brother, Jerry, and friend, Hubert Sexton, performed as the “Knight Brothers Trio” traveling much of the east coast.  In the 70’s to early ‘80’s he was the drummer and he played with the Allen Brown and the Wishing Well Band.  The song, Victory at Calvary, written by Carl, is still being sung in many churches today.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Raetta G. Knight; sons, Danny Knight and wife, Pam, and David Knight and wife, Nicole, all of Union Bridge, MD, Dean Knight of Myersville, and Curtis Knight and wife, Kendra, of Jefferson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter Knight and wife, Lois, of Monrovia, MD and Arnette Knight and wife, Gina, of Port Richey, FL; sisters, Phyllis Windsor of Mt. Airy, Annamae Melton of Virginia and Georgie Koeber of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by a son, Carriel D. “Chuck” Knight, Jr.; sisters, Carrie and Norma Knight; and brothers, Charles, Jerry and Alec Knight.

Carl’s wishes were not to have any services and to continue on with life and his memory.

Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
