Mrs. Carolyn "Boots" Stevens, 75, passed away at her home in Frederick on May 25, 2012 after a long and complicated illness.
Boots was born in Trappe, MD on August 24, 1936 to her late parents, Charles and Dorothy Hines. She graduated from the Union Memorial School of Nursing in 1957 and did nursing in Richmond, VA and Red Bank NJ, prior to moving with her family to Frederick.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Stevens" her daughter Lauren of Baltimore, and her son Rick and his wife, Kathy, of Littleton, MA, She enjoyed being called "Grandee" by her two teen aged grandchildren, Erin and Sawyer, also of Littleton. Her two brothers, Charles Hines, Jr and James Hines predeceased her.
Boots loved to play tennis and to watch tournaments on TV. She loved the ocean at Fenwick Island, DE and Ocean Pines, MD, and looked forward to her annual visits there. Also high on the list were flowers, mainly roses, and birds, mainly hummingbirds and cardinals. Having been brought up on the Eastern Shore,
Boots was a steamed crab fan, also an admirer of ducks and duck decoys. She enjoyed reading books and magazines and was always well informed about the upcoming weather.
She was well loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.
