Carolyn Plourde

November 7, 1930 — February 10, 2015

Mrs. Carolyn K. Plourde , 84, of Mount Airy, died peacefully on Tuesday February 10, 2015, at her residence. She was the wife of Edward G. Plourde, II, her husband of 58 years.

Born on November 7, 1930, in Portsmouth, NH, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Keenan. Her last job was as an administrative assistant at Hood College. A graduate of Plymouth Teacher's College, she taught school and was a lifelong advocate for children, serving First Right to Life and then Birth Rights. An active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Carolyn served as a CCD teacher, committee member and was involved in the Pastoral Ministry. She was the heart and soul of her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children: Kimberly Gutjahr, Lori Cunningham and Robert Plourde; grandchildren: Richard Gore, Christy Evans, Patrick Gore, Margaret Williams, Emily Funk, Carolyn Gore, Thomas Plourde, Aimee Cunningham, Joshua Cunningham, Nicole Manning Lear, Matthew Plourde, Robert S. Plourde, Holly Plourde, and Ashley Fogle; great-grandchildren: Shayla Gore, Lukas Gore, Emma Evans, Annabelle Evans, Evelyn Williams and Abigail Funk.

Our family would like to take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to Don D'Valle for ministering to our spiritual needs at home and to the nurses and staff of  Hospice of Frederick County for their support and kindness.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Friday, February 13 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Poplar Springs (Little Church), 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mt Airy with Reverend Michael J. Ruane as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
