Carolyn Harrison

Carolyn A Harrison, 90 of Thurmont, MD passed away from this life on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, her home with her loving husband and daughter by her side.

Born on November 7, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Alfred Acree and Irene Redman. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers George and Alfred Acree.

She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a devoted member of the Harriet Chapel Church in Thurmont. She loved people, and she never met a stranger. She had the ability to brighten any room with the sparkle in her eyes and her contagious smile. She was extremely good natured and had a very loving and affectionate disposition. She was an exceptionally hard worker and always ready to lend a hand. She worked for a short time for the Washington Gas Light Co, and enjoyed her retirement years with her loving husband traveling and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed boating at their home on the Northern Neck of VA, she loved to dance and she was an avid snow skier. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling and ceramics.

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Cotton Harrison, her devoted daughter Susan Riggs and Dave Pullen of Topping, VA., daughter Lynn Finkel and husband Bryan of Wake, VA, and son Steven Ridgely of Wake, VA, daughter Donna Broderick and Angela Jones of Washington DC and daughter Diane Harrison of Germantown MD. She will be deeply missed by family, grandchildren, and her many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, July 16, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 17, at the Harriet Chapel Episcopal Church, 12625 Catoctin Furnace Road in Thurmont.  A private family burial will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
