Carolyn Canfield

Carolyn Marie (Byrd) Canfield, 74, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland. To her friends, she was known as Carol. She was a lover of animals, particularly dogs. To Bob Butts and Jasper, she will be missed.
Born on January 5, 1940, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Frances (Smith) Byrd.
Carolyn retired from Good Humor-Breyers Ice Cream Plant in Hagerstown. She had previously been employed at the Yellow House in Boonsboro, the Sharpsburg American Legion, Friendly's Bar in Hagerstown, Fedders Air Conditioning in Frederick, and also had worked in the kitchen at Shepherd University.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet "Sis" M. Canfield of Funkstown, Maryland, and Paula S. Daugherty of New Port News, Virginia; nine grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Debbie Harbaugh and Sandra "Bo" Poffenberger; one sister, Marilyn Canfield; and two brothers, Harold and Leo Byrd.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
