Carol Ann Lucille Clark Brust (Cookie), 66, of Feagaville passed away November 5, 2010 at home. She was the wife of George W. Brust, recently celebrating their 49 th wedding anniversary on October 7, 2010. She was born November 20, 1943 in Frederick County and is predeceased by parents Charlotte Evelyn (Layman) Clark and Jesse Henry "Doc" (Snyder) Clark of Frederick County.
Carol retired after 32 years with Frederick County Public Schools food services, working at Valley Elementary and Brunswick Complex. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Cookie graduated from Frederick High School in 1961, and then married her high school sweetheart.
She enjoyed spending time with family and close friends, and could always be seen with that special grandson, Ryan, whom will be solo singing the first verse of Amazing Grace at the service. Carol always looked forward to summer trips to Ocean City, MD and amusement parks. You could also find her preparing and entering baked goods at The Great Frederick Fair. She had a history of winning top prizes on her cake entries. She was most recently fortunate enough to be able to support her great niece, Brooke Poklemba by attending The Miss Maryland pageant which she won in 2009 and then traveling to Las Vegas to support her in the Miss America pageant. Ms. Poklemba will be solo singing at the service as well.
In addition to her husband of 49 years, she is survived by her children Brian K "Bo" Brust (Karen); Debra Brust Fouche’ (Greg), Lori A Gates (Phillip); grandchildren Michael Fouche’, Phillip "PJ" Gates Jr., Ryan Gates, Mackenzee Gates, and Brian "BK" Brust Jr.; siblings J. Richard "Dick" Clark, Myersville, and Barbara "Chubby" Day (Charles), Mount Airy; godson Chad Clark; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and very special nieces Khrysti Thompson, Nancy Long, and nephew Ronnie Sexton. Carol was predeceased by sister Betty Jean Clark Gaver, sister-in-laws L. Jeanette Clark and Adrianna (Ann) Baer Brust, and brother-in-law Berhnart AH "Bernie/Sonny" Brust III; as well as her beloved dog, Middie.
She will be remembered by special friends Lucille Wages, Nancy Haupt, Jim and Connie Costas, Wanda Fultz, Darlene Webb, Jeni Noffsinger, and Alex Cummings. A very special thank you goes out to Dr. John Marshall M.D. and staff of Georgetown University Hospital; Briann, Gail, and Mary of Hospice of Frederick County; and all those who came to visit and offered support over the course of her illness.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday November 7, 2010 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where funeral services will be held on Monday November 8, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Eddie Hartman officiating. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick with grandsons Michael Fouche’ and Phillip Gates Jr., nephews Ronnie Sexton and Chad Clark, great-nephews Jason Hansberger, Chris Clark, Christopher "Cap" Poklemba and Josh Sexton serving at pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Howard Conn and Larry Brust.
