Mrs. Carol R. Baysinger, 88, of Frederick, MD and formerly of Annapolis, died Friday, January 15, 2016. She was the wife of the late Capt. Reaves Henry Baysinger, Jr. (USNA Class of '49), who died on February 9, 1972 while serving on active duty with the United States Navy.
Born July 14, 1927 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Florence (Schnell) Rogstad.
Carol was a proud Navy wife who supported her husband’s active duty career during assignments in Paris, France; Yokosuka, Japan and deployments during the Vietnam War. After the early passing of her husband, she raised her two young daughters while working at the U.S. Naval Academy in the Social Director's office from 1972-1994 becoming the Midshipman’s Social Director in 1980.
Carol had a great love of sports and was a passionate fan of Navy football, the Baltimore Orioles and the Dallas Cowboys.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Greene and husband, Pat, of Frederick; and Lynne Rutland of North Potomac; seven grandchildren, Patrick Greene, Ryan Greene and husband, Dennis, Michael Greene, Katie Greene; and Sarah, Greg and Bobby Rutland; three sisters, Nancy Brackett of Arizona, Mary Luell and husband, Rollo, of Wisconsin; and Judy Suessmith and husband, Len, of Iowa; a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Baysinger and wife, Sandy, of Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bob Brackett.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
