Carmine Frank Culletto, 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in Frederick, Maryland surrounded by family. Carmine was born on February 18, 1947 in Sparkill, New York to Anthony and Theresa (DeLongis) Culletto. Carmine grew up in Sparkill, New York. He graduated from Tappan Zee High School in Orangeburg, New York. Carmine dreamed of being a firefighter and started his career at John Pauling Engine Company 16 in Sparkill, New York, where he remained a lifetime member. In 1975, Carmine moved his family from Sparkill, New York to Montgomery County, Maryland to continue his firefighting career with the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Montgomery Count Fire and Rescue. In addition to Kensington Volunteer Fire Department, he served with the Hyattstown Volunteer Fire Department, Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department and ended a 22 year career as a Captain at Bethesda- Chevy Chase Fire Department. Carmine married Dorothy Marie Lyon in 1970 in Piedmont, New York. They were happily married for 43 years. Carmine was a member of Mount Airy Bible Church. One of his favorite things to do as a church member was sing special music to the congregation. After retiring, Carmine’s love for music often led to him singing in front of a crowd, sometimes playing the spoons. Becoming a member of a local gospel group called the Gospel Travelers, Carmine would sing at festivals, parties and other events. He also loved trains and had been working on a lay out for his train collection. However, nothing was more important to Carmine than family. Gathering together with family and being surrounded by loved ones brought Carmine the most joy. Carmine was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Theresa, brothers Thomas and Anthony and brother in law Nicholas Stahl. Carmine is survived by wife Dorothy of Frederick, MD; his daughters; Deann Culletto, Renee and son in law Dale Carter, and Toni and son in law Matthew Hegler; his brothers Ronald and wife MaryAnn Culletto, John Culletto and sister Lillian Culletto Stahl; his grandchildren Gregory, Kelsey, Gabrielle, Nathan, Samuel, Gianna, Tess and Madelyn; his many wonderful nieces and nephews and other relatives. Carmine knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and is blessed to be home with our Heavenly Father. Family will receive friends at Mount Airy Bible Church, 16700 Old Frederick Road, Mount Airy, MD at on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at from 1-2PM with a home going celebration at 2PM at the church. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Mt. Airy Christian Academy, 16700 Old Frederick Road, Mount Airy, MD 21771.
