Carmene “Dolly” Pittleman, 91, of Frederick died Friday January 6, 2012 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of the late Zeke Pittleman her husband of 40 years. Born February 7, 1920 in Chicago, IL she was the daughter of the late Marie and Pierce Sweig. “Dolly” grew up in Escanaba, MI and moved to Washington, DC in her teens. She graduated from Central High School in 1938. “Dolly” and Zeke moved to Crestwood Village in Frederick in the late 1980’s. “Dolly” loved all types of art and handwork. She was an accomplished painter with oils and watercolor, and displayed her art in the Frederick area. “Dolly” was also known for her expert wool knitting skill and crafted many beautiful sweaters, hats, and scarves for family and friends. She is survived by, her daughter Janice Pittleman and husband Bud Jacobs of Lovettesville, VA, and son Steve, and wife Karen, and grandchildren Clara and Jake Pittleman of Derwood, MD. A celebration of “Dolly’s” life will be held Tuesday at 3PM, January 10, 2012 in the Margaretta F. Slayman Chapel at Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7401 Willow Road, Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Crumland Farms.
