Carlton Barger, Sr.
September 8, 1916 — November 19, 2013
Carlton Calvin Barger Sr., of Frederick, passed away at Frederick Memorial Hospital on Tuesday November 19, 2013 at the age of 97. He was married to the late Helen Schaffer Barger for 53 years.
Mr. Barger was born on September 8, 1916 in Brunswick. He was the son of the late Charles Albert Barger and Ethel Frye Barger.
He is survived by one son, C. Calvin Barger Jr. of Frederick: one daughter, H. Lucille Callahan of Frederick: and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Albert Barger Jr.: son-in-law Lawrence Callahan: and daughter-in-law Josephine Barger.
He is also remembered by a special and devoted friend Katherine Campbell. The family would also like to thank some very special people in his life, Barbara and Gary Mann, for their thoughtfulness and help.
He was very proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Then he went on to work for the Eveready Co., the Modern Lighting Co., and Fort Detrick. He ended his career working for the National Bureau of Standards.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, November 24, from 2:00 pm until service time at 3:00 pm.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions, in Calvin’s name, may be made to a Charity of Choice.
