Carla Madeline Kelsey, affectionately known as Corky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 10, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born on September 6, 1952, in Pittsburgh, PA, and most recently resided in Mt. Airy, MD.
Carla was a 1970 graduate of Wheaton High School where she earned her Diploma and Cosmetology License. Carla was a natural talent in the field of hairdressing and began her career at the young age of 17. She took great pride in her work and achieved success through her undeniable skill and devotion to her clients.
She loved nothing more than spending time at her beautiful second home in Bethany Beach. Carla’s favorite hobbies included decorating and cherishing moments with her family and friends. She had a zest for life and never took a single moment for granted.
Carla’s proudest accomplishments were her family and grandchildren. She was married to Bobby Kelsey for nearly 51 years and was a devoted Wife, Mother, Mum Mum, and friend. Her love and selflessness knew no bounds, and she will be remembered for her immense kindness and giving nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Maxine Rizzo and sisters, Maxine Tribby and Darlene Lawson.
In addition to her husband, Carla is survived by her son, Carl Kelsey and Tina, her daughter, Michelle Mallick and husband, Kenny. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Christina Kelsey, Kerrin Kelsey, Ethan Kelsey, Timmy Mallick, Melanie Mallick, Tony Mallick, and Kelsey Mallick. Carla is also mourned by her nephew Sal Costantino, wife Cristina and their children, Trevor Grimes, Carter Costantino, and Ryder Costantino. She will be sadly missed and remembered by her many friends and best friend of over 40 years, Lisa Goddard. She’s been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 45 years. She maintained and treasured the friendships of these members greatly up until the day she passed.
Carla’s vibrant personality and love of life were evident to all who knew her. She was a true artist in every sense and had a gift of bringing people together. Her phenomenal cooking skills and meticulous planning made every gathering memorable and filled with love. Carla was incredibly proud of her Italian heritage.
Carla Madeline Kelsey will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace knowing that she touched the lives of many and left behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 4 to 8 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Boulevard, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
Funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, June 17th, at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Fredericks officiating.
Interment will follow at Pine Grove, Mt. Airy, MD.
A celebration of Carla’s life will follow the burial at Kenny and Michelle’s home located at 26451 Mullinix Mill Rd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
