Carl Fredericks

Mr. Carl Leslie Fredericks, 80, of Middletown, MD, formerly of Huntington Beach, CA, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Judy Fredericks for 55 years.

Born November 3, 1938 in Baxter, TN, he was the son of the late Leslie and Cessna (Roberson) Fredericks.

Mr. Fredericks received his Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California. He worked as an engineer with the federal government and traveled extensively with his job.The family lived on Guam in 1979, Spain in 1981, and Florida in 1984 before moving to Maryland in 1985. Following his retirement, Carl and Judy moved to Tennessee. Then returned to Maryland to be closer to family members. They relocated to Middletown in 2007.

He enjoyed playing golf and studying genealogy, of which many vacations were taken to research family history. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Matejovich, and husband, Todd, of Middletown; and Amy Fredericks and husband, Rob Shade, in Anaheim, CA; two grandsons, Peyton and Cory Matejovich; a sister, Dorothy Campbell and husband, Jac; and sister-in-law, Sharon Lynn.

He was predeceased by his son, Neal Fredericks, in 2004.

A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Rd., Frederick, MD.

Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA.

Flowers are welcome at both services.
