Carl Otis Fisher Jr.

Emblem

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Carl Otis Fisher Jr., lovingly known as Poncho, who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by love at Frederick Health Hospital in his final moments.

Carl was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland, where he attended Frederick County Public Schools, earning his high school diploma. A man of dedication and hard work, he built a career at Builders First Source, working in Shipping and Receiving. On July 21, 2018, Carl married the love of his life, Mary Katherine, cherishing their time together as husband and wife.

Carl found joy in life’s simple pleasures—he was a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders, loved music, and enjoyed hosting cookouts, where he brought family and friends together with laughter and good food. Carl also proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting through the buddy system alongside his brother, Mousey. His service reflected his deep sense of loyalty, strength, and commitment to others.

Cherished Family and Legacy:

Carl leaves behind a legacy of love through his devoted mother, Peggy Barnes, his beloved wife, Mary, and his children:Carl Fisher III (Christina), Carleah Fisher, Corrie Fisher, Ulysses Fisher (Takiyah), LaToya Fisher, Monica Fisher, Priseis Fisher, Shyauna Harris, Melissa Poole, Jessica Chum (Keo), Janice Frye, and Cassandra Poole (Tajh).

His love and wisdom will continue to live on through his many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his two loving brothers, Garfield Sampson (Jackie) and Elder Charles Holliday Jr. (Donna), and his dear sister, Paula Holliday (Peppe), as well as his beloved aunt, Rosemary Jackson.

Carl’s life was enriched by the friendships he held dear, especially his close friends Richard Duppins and Jeff McElhinney. Welcomed into Eternal Rest, Carl was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eliza and Lloyd Lee; his father, Carl Otis Fisher Sr.; his brother, Alfred Fisher; and his nephew, Charles Holliday III. He is now reunited with his cousins Lenny Barnes, Shirley Foreman, Ralph Fisher, and William Brown III; his aunts Lillian Foreman, Gloria Brown, Betty Brown, and Annie Fisher; his uncles Paul Barnes, Eugene Barnes, Eddie Fisher; and his stepfather, Charles Holliday Sr.

Carl will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. His love, laughter, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Semper Fi, Marine. Your mission here is complete—rest in peace.
