Carl Clingan

May 17, 1941 — June 8, 2020

Carl E. Clingan , 79, of Middletown, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, June 8, 2020 at  his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 17, 1941, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Leo and Ruth (Simpson) Clingan.

He was the beloved husband of the late JoAn Clingan.

He began working in the construction field as young man and successfully for over fifty years owned and managed C & S Construction Company.  He loved to travel, fish, hunt and spend time with his family. He looked forward to his Dad and daughter trips always wearing a hat from his large collection and always ended the day with ice cream.  He treasured life and was always ready for the next adventure. His favorite place to eat was Dempsey's Grill in Middletown where he made many lifelong friends.  He also loved his Ford trucks and enjoyed taking rides in his convertibles. His zest for life will never be forgotten and greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by daughters, Misti Payne and husband, Milton,  Kassie Werking and husband, Ron and Sirena Edwards and husband, Kelly; sister, Janet Fogle; brothers, Robert , Richard and Charles Clingan, Kenneth Clingan and wife Anna and John Oden and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, James Boyer, III, Richard Boyer, Nicholas Payne, Travis Clingan, Megan Taylor, Nicholas Edwards, Chelsea Fritz, Tabbitha Fritz, Jessica Waters and Cody Edwards; great grandchildren, Paxton Payne, Jaden Waters, Ellis Taylor, Kennedy Long and Quinn Payne.  He is also survived by many friends.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Patricia Summers and Ethel Clingan.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.  Please remember to wear a mask during the visitation.

A private service will be held due to the current State Corona Virus Mandate.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
