Calvin Sayler

Calvin E. Sayler  90, of Thurmont, MD passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. He was born November 28, 1924 in Rocky Ridge, MD to the late Florence and Charles Salyer. He was the loving husband of Ruth S. Sayler; father of Karen Small; grandfather of Melanie Small (Greg DeKoenigsburg) and Mark (Patricia) Small; great grandfather of Jacob and Joshua Small; brother of Helen Eaves, Roy, David (Ruth G.) Sayler and the late Mildred, Mary, Kathryn, Marguerite, Merle, Charles, Harry and Raymond.

Mr. Sayler was a well known business leader and community benefactor. He was the owner of the Claire Frock Company of Thurmont for 30 years. He was a Marine veteran of WWII and lifelong member of Graceham Moravian Church; past president of The Maryland Polled Hereford Association; charter member and past president of both The Catoctin Medical Association and The Francis Scott Key Investment Club and was a past board member of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. Calvin was a member of the Thurmont Lions Club and was very supportive of youth athletic and agricultural programs in the Thurmont area.

Relatives and friends may call at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont, MD. Sunday, June 21 from  2-4 and 6-8 pm; where funeral services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11 am. Interment private.
