Caitlynn Nicole James

Caitlynn Nicole James, 31, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Washington, D.C. She was born on October 2, 1993, in Frederick, Maryland, and brought warmth and joy to all who knew her throughout her life.

Caitlynn was a proud 2011 Graduate of Gov. Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Maryland. She later pursued her passion for film at Stevenson University, where she studied in the Department of Film and Moving Images for four years. Her love for storytelling and creativity was evident in everything she did.

A natural caregiver at heart, Caitlynn dedicated herself to helping others through her work with Visiting Angels in Frederick, Maryland. She was beloved by both her colleagues and the clients she served. With a sweet disposition and a kind heart, she provided comfort and companionship to those in need. Whether nursing her clients, sitting by their side, or running errands with them, Caitlynn’s presence brought light into their lives. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Caitlynn’s vibrant personality shone through in her many passions. She was a filmmaker and producer who had a deep love for art, anime, film, fantasy, Marvel, music, and video games-interests that allowed her to connect with others who shared her enthusiasm. She could "nerd out" with the best of them and found joy in immersing herself in creative worlds.

In January, Caitlynn embarked on an exciting journey with her friend Crystal to attend concerts from a list they had created together. Their first concert was Megan Thee Stallion, and they had plans to see Beyoncé this summer-a testament to Caitlynn’s adventurous spirit and love for music.

One of Caitlynn’s greatest joys was cheering for the Baltimore Ravens. As an enthusiastic Super Fan, she shared this passion with her entire family. Whether supporting the team from the stands or home on Purple Fridays, she embraced the Ravens' spirit wholeheartedly. Purple became her signature color-a reflection of both her loyalty to the team and her vibrant personality.

Caitlynn is survived by her loving mother, L'Tanya Lynne James; her father, Allen Lee Reed; her brother, Nikolas Allen James; her aunt, Allana Michelle James; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rosena Virginia James née Perkins; great-grandfather, Clyde Delano Perkins; and great-grandmother, Elna Mabel Perkins, née Stanton.

Always with a smile on her face and a giggle at the ready, Caitlynn was known for her optimism, generosity, and empathy. Her genuine spirit and sensitive soul touched the lives of many. Though we deeply wish we had more time with her on this earth, we take comfort in knowing we will see her again

A viewing will be held on March 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Stauffer Funeral Home, located at 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland 21702. A funeral service will follow at Stauffer Funeral Home at the same location from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Caitlynn will be laid to rest immediately after the service at Fairview Cemetery, located at 608 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

Her memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
