Caitlyn Crawford

Caitlyn Elizabeth Crawford, age 23, of Mt. Airy gained her angel wings after a courageous 2 year battle with Colorectal Cancer on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. Caitlyn was born December 2, 1992 in Olney, MD. She was the daughter of Cathy Crawford, of Mt. Airy and Mark Franklin and wife Tammy of Mt. Airy.

Caitlyn danced competitively at the Artistic Dance Center for over 10 years. She graduated from Linganore High School in 2010. Caitlyn absolutely adored children which led her to work for Bright Eyes Early Learning Center in New Market for 3 years. Even during her treatments Caitlyn continued to volunteer at the Rescue Mission and attend FCC pursuing a degree in Social Work. She enjoyed going to the beach, amusement parks, movies and concerts. Caitlyn loved spending time with her family and her passion was her "little" cousins, Ava, Colin, Keagan and Logan.

In addition to her parents, Caitlyn is survived by her grandmother June Crawford of Mt. Airy; her aunts and uncles, Debbie and Jeff Green of Myersville; Michael and Becky Crawford of Middletown; and Craig Crawford of Thurmont; her cousins Ashley Ferguson and husband Steven of Falling Waters, WVA; Kyle and Corey Green of Myersville; Ava and Colin Crawford of Middletown; and Keagan and Logan Ferguson of Falling Waters, WVA. She is also survived by her brother Kyle Franklin of Mt. Airy and she leaves behind her beloved dog Lucy.

She was predeceased by her grandfather Michael Crawford, Sr. of Mt. Airy on October 3, 2015.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 7 at Stauffer Funeral Home of Mt. Airy from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm with a service to celebrate Caitlyn’s life beginning at 3:00 pm. Caitlyn had requested no all-black attire.
