Brigitta Amalia (Heintz) Ecton, 94, formerly of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life to her heavenly reward on May 6, 2019 at Homewood at Williamsport.
Born on December 30, 1924, in Oberauerbach, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Amalia (Hoffmann) Heintz.
Brigitta was preceded in death by her husband, Leon G. Ecton, on January 10, 2001. Her son and only child, Harry Leon Ecton, lost his life while serving his country in the Vietnam War.
She was a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Boonsboro, where she had been an active member of the Consistory and the Choir. Brigitta also volunteered at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
As the last surviving member of her family, she is survived by her cousin, Waltrand Ambose and husband Gerd of Germany, who she loved dearly, Shawn R. Palmer and husband Dennis of Boonsboro, who was like a daughter to her, and Leon and Betty Jones, who where her neighbors and best friends; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Churchey; and three brothers-in-law, Theodore, Atley, and Roger Ecton.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery, where Brigitta will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
Friends are invited to join together for a time of sharing one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
