Brian Mathewson

Brian Bernard Mathewson, 77, of Frederick, passed from this life on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his residence.  He was the husband of 46 years to Carol Zema Mathewson.  Born on December 18, 1940, in Cooperstown, NY, he was the son of Bernard Leroy Mathewson and Elsie (Robinson) Mathewson.

He attended high school in Sidney, New York.  After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958.  He retired from the Army in 1978, having served in the Vietnam War where he was an X-Ray Technician in a field hospital.

Everybody loved Brian and he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Jamie Mathewson and significant other Kyle Rhoderick, Sara Mathewson, Brian Mathewson II and Christopher Mathewson; grandchildren Hannah Rookstool and Thaddeus (Twigg) Mathewson.  He is also survived by siblings Eric Mathewson, Robert Mathewson and his wife Connie as well as many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Mathewson will also be missed by his loving companion Figaro the Cat.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Hudhud, Dr. Tung, Dr. Barakat and Dr. Williams for outstanding love and care they extended to Brian.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
