Brenda Marshall

Brenda Carol Marshall, 72, of Mount Airy, passed from this life on Friday, April 13, 2018. She was the wife of Paul Marshall, Jr., her husband of nearly 55 years.

Born on July 18, 1945, in North Wilkesboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late David C. and Beulah M. Blevins Gentry.

Carol was a 1963 graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville and married Paul that same year. She worked for the US Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service for 31 years where she made life-long friends with "The Girls" Cathy Schell, Pat Warholic, Jane Sprouse, Kathy Boswell and Ginny Carper. Carol had a humble, loving, artistic and creative spirit with a passion for appliqued quilts and wall hangings, crocheting, and embroidering. A true music lover she played piano, keyboard and accordion. Carol was an avid reader and a devoted member of Mt. Hope Christian Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Sue Marshall; daughter-in-law Lea Munley; brother and sister-in-law Pastor Leon Dodson and wife Betty of all Mt. Airy, and nephew Robert Dodson of Frederick. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Gentry and favorite aunt, Sue (Evelyn Gentry).

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, April 18, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy where funeral services will be take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 19, 2018, with her brother-in-law Pastor Leon Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy.
