Bonnie Burns

January 18, 1969 — August 23, 2020

Bonnie Ann Burns, 51, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, August 23, 2020, after a short battle with cancer.

Born on January 18, 1969, she was the daughter of the late Donald Burns Jr. and Judith McNish Burns. Bonnie graduated from Gaithersburg High School, Maryland in 1987. She enjoyed her current work at The Cutting Edge Tree Experts. As well as her previous work at The Word Among Us, as Bonnie felt very passionate about her Catholic faith.

Bonnie truly lived life to the fullest with life’s simple pleasures. She cherished every sunrise, sunset, and everything in between. Bonnie had a yearning to travel and explore new places. She enjoyed the beauty in nature and loved visiting Sugarloaf Mountain, Potomac River, and local fishing ponds with her son Michael. Bonnie loved sitting on the deck every Sunday morning with a cup of coffee, scrolling through Pinterest, dreaming of projects to do. She had an affinity for all things Irish and often found solace in Irish prayers. Bonnie’s greatest passion in life was raising her five children; Samantha, Jacqui, Heather, Michael and Robert, along with her six, soon to be seven grandchildren; Tony, Blake, Jacob, Madison, Emma, Jocelyn and Lyla.

Bonnie was an avid animal lover. She always made sure to surround herself with her adored dogs, cats, and feathery friends. She was devoted to family traditions and looked forward to every holiday. Her family knew to expect the infamous Bacon, Egg, and Cheese casserole even it was a little burnt! With Christmas being her favorite holiday, Bonnie meticulously decorated her home and tediously wrapped all small gifts that would be found in a stocking. Bonnie looked at the holidays as an opportunity for her to spend more time with her children and grandchildren.

Bonnie is survived by her children Samantha Burns Cressman and husband Joshua Cressman, Jacqui Clem and husband Dustin Clem, Heather Lowery and husband Stephen Lowery, Michael Melby Jr., and Robert Melby III and seven grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her siblings, Joseph Burns and wife Janice Burns and Kelly Roth and husband Tom Roth, along with her ex-husband Michael Melby, father of their five children and his wife, Lori Melby. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Doanld Burns Jr. and Judith McNish Burns. And more recently, her beloved grandmother Donna McNish.
