Bonna Holland

Bonna Lee Holland, age 94, of Annapolis, passed away on November 22 in Frederick, Maryland. She was preceded in death in 2002 by her loving husband of 58 years, Lewis P. Holland.

Bonna was born in 1922 in Francis, Oklahoma, the youngest of three children of the late Eric Vance and Mattie Rushing. After graduating in 1939 from Farwell High School in Farwell,Texas, she attended Texas Tech in Lubbock. When WWII was declared, she moved to Washington D.C. to work as a secretary at the Pentagon. There she met a young Navy officer, Lewis P. Holland, and in 1943 they were married. As a military wife, she lived with her family in Japan and Germany in the 1950's with her husband and two daughters, and in 1960 returned to the Washington D.C. area. They lived first in Cheverly, and in 1980 moved to Annapolis. She enjoyed traveling and being a consummate hostess; was an accomplished pianist and organist; enjoyed being an active member of Heritage Baptist Church; and loved to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived in Annapolis for 32 years and only recently moved to Frederick to be close to her daughter and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail (and Douglas) Reichard of Frederick and Barbara (and Paul) Perry of Somerset, KY; two grandchildren, Steven Reichard (and Leigh-Ann) of Middletown and Keith (and Jennifer) Reichard of Advance, NC; and six great-grandchildren: Allison, David, Faith, Grace, Daniel, and Kelly.

Frederick friends may call at Gail and Douglas Reichard's home, 7199 Adirondack Drive, Frederick on Sunday, Nov 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. Visitation for Annapolis friends will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD, 21401, starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28 with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church.
