Bob A. Holmes, Sr.

Bob A. Holmes, Sr., 63, of Keedysville, Maryland, died suddenly on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital, in Hagerstown, Maryland.


Born on August 14, 1946 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Cleveland G. and Lillian V. (Toms) Holmes.


Bob retired in 2008 after 10 years of service with Staples Distribution Center in Hagerstown.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary E. (Springer) Holmes; five children, Bob Holmes, Jr., Penny Catlett, Teresa Holmes, Lisa Seebeck and Barbara Holmes; two step sons, Gary and Jimmy Nelson; three sisters, Lillian "Doll" Whitmore, Mary Jane Beachley and Debra Beaver; four brothers, Thomas, Gary, Allan and Richard Holmes; 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.


Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by one grandson, Jordan Holmes; his sister, Barbara Holmes Darr; and two brothers, Dennis and Cleveland Holmes, Jr.


A funeral ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.  Rev. Harold L. Overcash, Jr. will officiate.  Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.


The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.
