Blanche "Liss" Shifler

Blanche M. "Liss" (Overcash ) Shifler, 77, of Boonsboro, Maryland,  passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on December 17, 1934 in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Edgar R. and Blanche (Crouse) Overcash.  Her husband, Charles T. "Tim" Shifler preceded her in death on October 25, 2006.

Liss was a 1952 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg.

Along with her husband, Liss owned, operated, and did the bookkeeping for Hub City Liquors and Hub City Coin Op. located in Hagerstown for more than thirty years.

Liss was the former President and Treasurer of the Chapelwood Garden Club that was held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Boonsboro.

She is survived by her daughter, Karin Shifler-Hartman of Boonsboro; her two sons, Michael Shifler and his wife, Beth of Boonsboro and Steven Shifler of Hagerstown; two sisters, Anna Welch and Betty Stenger; a brother, Edgar Overcash, Jr.; and four grandchildren, Hannah Hartman, Amanda, Ryan, and Alex Shifler; and her three great-grandchildren, Grant Wilhide, Jackson Shifler, and Shaylynn Beauford.  She is also survived by her canine companion, Daisy.

In addition to her parents and husband, Liss was preceded in death by two sisters, Esta Bloyer and Helen Eversole-Staley; and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Shifler.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.  Pastor Walt Roberts will officiate.  Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.

The Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
