BLANCHE ROSEMOND KRACHER

Mrs.Blanche Rose Kracher, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick. She was the wife of the late Henry Kracher who died May 3, 1992.

Born on September 16, 1917, in Grenora, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Mathias Joseph and Elizabeth Barbara (Aiger) Rassier.

Blanche moved to San Francisco from North Dakota in 1940 where she met Henry “Hank” Kracher . They were later wed on December 12, 1942 and lived in Martinez, California until moving to Newark, Delaware in 1956. In 1979 Blanche moved to Chewelah, Washington with Henry to help build a home on the “ponderosa”.  She took pleasure in gardening and knew just about every plant and flower there was. She enjoyed sewing and knitting and for a time, formed a part time business in Delaware  as a seamstress.  Always open to new things, she learned to read and play the organ late in life.

A devoted loving wife, mother, sister and friend, she was a source of wisdom, spirit, dedication and resolve. She would always greet you with a big smile that would warm the room and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. A lifelong Catholic and prayerful woman, she devoted her life to her family and church. During her stay in Frederick, she worshiped and was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Parish.

She is survived by her son Gregory Paul Kracher of Frederick; three grandchildren, Tatum Rose Kracher and Taylor Paul Kracher, both of Frederick, and Nicholas D. Kracher, presently a resident of Philadelphia, PA; a devoted niece, Loretta and husband, Ron Dalton, of Acampo, CA; a nephew extraordinaire, Thomas J Horton, Jr. of Ramsey, MN; and a niece, Barbara Galles of Bradenton, FL.

Blanche will be sadly missed by her “second” son Terrance Huston of Cotopaxi, CO; and family friend and advisor, Anthony DeLateur of Spokane, WA.

Blanche was preceded in death by brothers:  Martin, Phillip, Wallace, Simon, Leo, and Gilbert; and sisters, Margaret, Varine, Magdaline, and Anna Marie.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in the Chapel at Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, with Father Keith Boisvert officiating.

In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Blanche, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Katherine Drexel Building Fund, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
